Interview

All the cool kids are doing it, so here's a 5 question interview courtesy of Kerry. And the rules, if you would like to take part...

The rules:

1. Leave me a comment saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I'll email you five questions of my choosing.
3. You update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. They will answer these questions. Because I said so.

1. What is your all time favorite roller coaster, and why?  If you can't pick one, I'll let you pick one wooden and one steel.

I thought this one would be easy, but as I started to think about what I'd choose I realized it is a bit more difficult.  While it's a tough choice I'm going to go with Millenium Force at Cedar Point.  I think the main reason it's my favorite is the first drop.  The view from the top of the 300' peak is unmatched and both the lift and the drop and steeper than normal which give a very unique and exhilarating ride.  In addition to that, the ride never lets up after that and the combination of tunnels, hills, and overbanked turns make for an exciting circuit.

2. If you didn't have to worry about money, and you could get any job that you wanted, what job would you pick?  And where in the world would you want to do it?

At first I was going to say something involving the design of roller coasters.  However, being engineering that would probably have a decent salary so I decided to think a bit more obscure.  So, I'm going to say being a member of the crew for ESPN College Gameday.  While it's probably not glamorous, I love college football and dream of road tripping through a college football season.  I can't think of a better way to see the country and lots of football at the same time.  Since we're talking hypothetically here, to get to see the games and actually enjoy the towns it would have to be a position with few gametime responsibilities maybe like being part of an advance team or something like that.

3. What would you do on your ideal weekend?

The cornerstone of the ideal weekend would be to include as many friends as possible.  Right now I live quite far from my best friends and I miss them very much.  I'd be perfectly content to just spend time with them and catch up which would be a very bland answer, but it would be the truth.  Anyways, it would include many friends and a party crashing by any of the few that I've completely lost touch with nor even know where they are would make it even better.  While I am just being indecisive the truth is that who I'm with would mean a lot more than what I'm doing so this weekend could include skiing, UVM hockey, VT football, Arsenal soccer, a beach, roller coasters, high end clubs, cities I've never explored before, or somewhere on the other side of the world but what would really make it ideal is who I got to share it with.

4. What do you think is your great skill that a lot of people won't know about?

This is actually a very tough question as there is not much about me that I consider great.  I'm going to have to with my sense of direction and ability to navigate in a new place.  I only need directions to a place once and then can find my way there and back with ease.  This can be anywhere from a friend's place to a bagel shop in midtown manhattan.  I don't know what it is, but I can always find my way around.  This also includes new and unknown places - even more so with public transportation.  I live for a good public transport adventure and am able to handle this very well.  I would think many people would be intimidated by the thought of having to travel 2h by underground and rail to a friend's house in a foreign country but I actually was excited about doing so.

5. Do you have a favorite TV show?  Has the type of TV you watch changed over time?  Do you have any particular shows you love to watch, even though you don't really know why?

As I really don't watch a lot of TV, I'd have to say my favorite show is college football.  It's really the only thing I plan around when it comes to TV.  I've always been a Law & Order fan but I haven't been drawn to the recent cast members and usually just find it in syndication while channel surfing.  I am also a fan of Real World/Road Rules Challenge which has all but disappeared as Road Rules hasn't aired in quite some time.  My TV tastes have certainly changed over the years.  As a kid I was hooked on Saved By The Bell.  I still get a laugh out of it but while watching the first two seasons on DVD I was questioning my sanity and wondering what I was thinking.  It must have been all the neon blinding my rational thought, or my huge crush on Kelly.  During college I had a small pro wrestling phase but that was more because of the weekly gathering of guys than the exciting sports entertainment.  The shows I just have figured out why I like them are the cooking competitions.  I can sit in front of Iron Chef, Food Network Challenge, and Top Chef for hours.  I'm not sure why - maybe it's getting to drool over food that I will probably never see due to my overly simple tastes.

So as you can see, this place is kinda bare. There will be a forthcoming entry shortly thanks to Kerry which will replant the creative blogging seed. However, what it grows into is yet to be seen. Anyways, stay tuned...
